couglin, you are entitled to your opinion, as is everybody. I make this prediction based upon such things as the true costs and the past development history of such things such as cng and lpg infrastructure. While it is true that a fuel cell is relatively "portable", the problem is that they are expensive, and you can't afford to buy one until future development lowers the cost significantly.

you wrote: "Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles get a lot of hype, but they are decades away from being practical, and won't have any impact in the near future." I think that you are mistaken. I think that we going to see them soon. A fuel cell is a portable item that can be sold anywhere.

So true we need to VOTE THEM ALL OUT THIS NOVEMBER!

My family's pre-ordered a Nissan Leaf. I'll put a review on it as soon as I've driven it for a week or so.

Your question, in all likelihood, won't be answered. Several of us have asked in any number of threads, "Why would you boycott the lowest priced station (especially if both cash and credit were lower than a station that had only one price regardless how you paid), and go to the single priced station, and pay more. They don't answer that, and they never say outright "I will pay more for gas at a higher priced station because of principle." The Chiefaz answer - and I understand it from his single example - is that the dual priced station at one specific place is considerably higher priced than at a nearby station that has different cash and credit prices. That, unfortunately, is one isolated case; he doesn't come back and say there's another set of stations like that. Bottom line is, welcome to our world and don't hold your breath.

Cheers

Happy 4th of July to ya!

Just a suggestion: Take Chiefaz's comments regarding dual priced stations with a grain of salt. But I'd also suggest that you read the earlier posts from both him and me for a perspective (I suggest reading the posts as far back as possible).

Hi, thanks for the feedback on my biofuel and jatropha comments (I don't exactly remember where and when I made them tho!). I have lived in Calgary my whole life - went to Crescent Heights HS, Western's architectural twin.

Yeah, times ARE indeed tough. Good advice for most people on the high mileage car to start with, other than that, improve upon them and modify them to get more mileage. I know people with pickups getting over 30 and 40 mpg.
